Okay, a lot of transactions at Giant Eagle today, well, I should say Giant Eagles. I went to 2 different Giant Eagles in search of my freebies. Cereal is cheaper at one GE (they have different regional ads), so I started there and ended up at the other GE (2 or 3 times the size of the other GE) for my freebies. GE #2 is transaction #4. I will admit, I splurged on a blue cheese ball and chocolate covered mascarpone strawberries, since it is Mother's Day, and Shaun is very particular with what shaving cream he uses, since his skin is so sensitive (and it costs $15.99). So those things really affected my totals for this week, but I figure with as much as I am saving all the time, little splurges like this are okay!

Transaction #3:
This is what I will call my "Lesson Learned" transaction. As you may or may not know, at Giant Eagle, when something is on sale, for example 5 for $10 and when you buy $10 worth, you get a CAT for $3 OYNO, most of the time the $10 worth of products is based off of the shelf price, NOT the sales price. It has been reported that if you see the Advantage card icon in the picture of the item in the ad, then it is shelf price. If it is not in the picture, then assume it is sale price. I did the math based on the ad, and thought that I would need 4 fruit bowls, since the shelf (based on the savings amount listed) would be $2.69 each. I didn't verify the shelf price, and at this GE, the shelf price is actually $2.29, so therefore, I was short and didn't receive the CAT. I was annoyed at first, so I went over to Customer Service and as I was explaining the situation, I realized my mistake. So let this be a lesson learned, NOT to trust all of the shelf prices calculated from the ad. Always check when you are in store! I still got a good deal:
4 pks Dole fruit bowls: $1.25 each
